Wonderful Water Day 1
We started with a Name Game to learn each other's names. Then we talked about how much of Earth and our bodies are made of water. We also did a quick review of the names of the oceans. Then we made an Ocean Layer poster with organisms specific to each layer of the ocean. Then we played “Predator vs Prey” (your team chooses one of the sea creatures we discussed from the lesson and use your adaptations to survive). Next we had a snack and talked about characters for their original play (live performance Friday at 2pm if not raining and I will send a link to a recorded version via email for those unable to attend). Then we split into two groups. Some went to play at the obstacle course for a bit while others chose to make clay creations at the classroom. Next, we discussed what causes ocean currents and I did a demo with cold and hot water to help illustrate the movement of water in extreme temperatures. Lastly, we collected sticks to make mini rafts. After lunch, some of them took their mini rafts to the creek to test them out and play with them.
