    Session 2 May 31

To start off the first morning, we did a Meet my Friend/get to know you game. Then I showed them the obstacle course and let them run through it. This week's camp theme is the Big Picture and today's topic was plastic pollution. So we discussed what plastic is made of, how it is made and where does it go when we finish using it. To collect each part of the "Life cycle of a water bottle" the explorers needed to complete 13 tasks (Among Us Game style) before the Imposter ejecte

After Gratitude Circle, we went straight into painting and making paint from rocks. Explorers collected rocks from the creek to test out smashing into a powder using a mortar and pestel. Then they a choose a binder (egg yolk or elmers glue) to add to the powder until it was the consistency of paint. After splitting into teams and choosing their team animal they had 3 minutes to go in the maze, retrieve the bag with their team animal on it, exit and pass the bag to their other partner. Inside was a map of the maze with an X marking the animal bag they needed to find. The older teamate had 1 minute to memorize the map and then 5 minutes to run through the maze and

This morning we started with archery, the Native American game Hoop and Pole and doing the obstacle course. Then we came together for Gratitude Circle. Each explorer shared one thing they are grateful for. After Gratitude Circle, we finished filling in all the missing information collected from each animal classification challenge. They were very interested in flatworms! :) Then we went on a Scavenger hunt looking for specific invasive and native plants. They successfully fo

We started the morning with a a review of the major causes of species endangerment (H.I.P.P.O.). Then we put the clues from yesterday together to make the next riddle symbol which was for the bird station. We found the missing information for our Animal Classification book and learned about the Red-Cockaded Woodpecker, which is an endangered bird in Georgia. They needed this information in order to understand the game. There were toilet paper rolls painted and labeled as Old

First off, I didn't take enough pictures! Today was packed with so much activity I forgot! Sorry! I will make sure to take more pictures the next few days. We started off with a "Meet my Friend"/get to know you game. Then we went to the obstacle course for a few minutes. After everyone ran through the obstacle course at least once, we discussed Food chains/webs. Each explorer randomly selected a resource, producer, consumer, or decomposer and had to find someone else in the c
