Sense-ational Science Day 5

Updated: Jun 16

After Gratitude Circle, we filmed the dress rehearsal of their original play "How the Furry Feathers Got The Best Eyesight in the World". Then during snack break we played "That Sound and Sight Game" (like charades but you can make sounds and older kids can't use their arms to act out something in a category for their team to guess. Then we talked about some animals' sense of smell- like how a bear can smell 2100 times better than humans, that many insects smell through their antennae and octopus smell and taste through their tentacles. We then moved onto the last sense: taste. We talked about some wacky animals' sense of taste (like butterflies tasting through their feet).

Then we went to obstacle course and creek since there was a chance of rain in the afternoon.

After creek, they ate lunch and then completed a flavor drink challenge. We talked about balancing flavors and we discussed how to balance flavors when cooking (for example if something is too spicy add sweet or sour to help balance it out). Then they started with 2 tablespoons of water and 1/2 tablespoon of liquid stevia and they had to add either sour (lime), salt or other flavors to balance it out. Then for round two, they started with lime juice and water and tried to balance it out.

Lastly, they performed their play live for parents and guardians.
