We started the morning with Gratitude Circle (sharing something we are grateful for today). Then, since it was the first day of camp for some explorers, we played a Name Game to learn each other's names. Next, I shared with them an inventor’s journal Ms. Melissa found in her attic. It showed instructions for putting together a time machine needed to transport a plant to the future to help cure a disease. The author of the journal said all the parts are hidden around this property at Little Rose. We all agreed we should try to find the pieces to build his machine so we could help those in the future. The first day of our adventure involved making a compass (using water, leaf, magnet and needle). We learned you really need a dry leaf for it to float on the water. The explorers were still able to find North by noting where the morning sun was rising in the East. In the Northern trees they found compasses and another clue. They had to use the compasses to find a trail of mushrooms leading them to the next area. Then finding the energy stick they had to make a circuit holding hands to have lights blink colors which gave a clue for how to open a locked box. The box had a map with the start of 6 symbol trails. They needed to follow the trails to find all 6 gears. We didn't have time to finish so we will start the adventure back at this part tomorrow.
Then, we took a snack break and discussed characters for their original play (to be performed this Friday @ 2). Then we went to the obstacle course. Back at the classroom, they started designing and crafting an Automaton.
Then we had lunch, played games and went to the creek.
