Lovely Land Day 5

After Gratitude Circle and a game of Lakota Stick, we discussed the rock cycle and differences between igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. Then we painted Kindness rocks (stones painted with a positive message and hidden somewhere for someone else to find). Next we practiced the play during snack and went to the obstacle course. Next, we looked at several different types of minerals and rocks which I passed around and we discussed their uses. Then they played “Capture the Minerals” (like capture the flag but instead of a flag you get a picture of one of the rocks from the lesson and have to match it up to a fact on your team’s board. Also if you get tagged and go to jail you are free once you answer a question from the rock lesson correctly). Next, we had lunch and went to the creek. Lastly, they performed their original play, “The Traveler’s Quest”.
