Week 6 Day 1 Gravity

This week’s theme is Gravity so we began with a discussion about how gravity behaves but we don’t know exactly why it occurs and theories throughout history have existed to try and explain it. We started with Aristotle’s observations and theories and how/why Galileo’s theories superseded them. We also explored the role air resistance plays in gravity with a couple demonstrations. Then using their knowledge of air resistance they completed a STEAM Egg Drop challenge (using limited resources they had to design, build and test a contraption that would safely land an egg without breaking from a controlled height). Then we took a snack break, started writing their original play to be performed Friday and went to the obstacle course. After that, they made some Gravity Art (using gravity alone to create a painting). Then we had lunch and  hiked to the creek to play, explore and cool off. Lastly, some explorers did Legos or played theatre games while waiting to get picked up.
