After Gratitude Circle (where we go around the circle and say something we are thankful for today), we discussed moon phases and played Simon Says Moon Phases since today focuses on the Moon. Then we talked about why the Moon glows. To emphasize that it is a reflection of light from the Sun,  they completed laser puzzle challenges. They had three mirrors and a goal and as a team they had to figure out how to reflect the laser to hit the goal. Next we discussed the Giant Impact Hypothesis for how the Moon formed and played  Among Us on the Moon  (various tasks spread across Little Rose needed to be completed to fix their spaceship and return safely to Earth). After the game, we took a snack break and went to the obstacle course. Then we talked about past, current and future missions to the Moon and they completed a Moon Crater STEAM Challenge (in teams or solo they were given limited resources to design, build and test a way to place a ball in the center of a 6 ft diameter without stepping into the circle. The engineering challenge represented NASA placing a rover in the middle of the Apollo Lunar Crater. Next was lunch and hiking to explore the creek. We saw two baby non-venomous brown water snakes in their house under the waterfall rock so we stayed away from there to give them space. Lastly, some explorers played “Why are you late?” or baseball while waiting to get picked up.
